Must-see buildings in Dubai
Dominating the Dubai skyline, the Burj Khalifa is a glittering testament to the modern city it calls home. This skyscraper narrows to a needlepoint as it rises, framed by the impressive Dubai Fountain is located outside it. At nearly 830 metres (2,722 feet) it’s the tallest building on earth, and is nearly twice as tall as New York’s Empire State Building. The Burj Khalifa’s outdoor observation deck is on the building’s 124th floor and offers panoramic views of this glistening city in the desert.
Princess Tower in the Dubai Marina district is Dubai’s second tallest building, and the tallest residential building in the world. Other residential buildings of note in the area include Elite Residence, 23 Marina and the Marina Torch. On the Dubai coastline, Burj Al Arab is one of its most recognisable buildings, its structure elegantly mirroring a ship’s sail.
Other highlights of Dubai’s architecture
While many of the buildings in Dubai today are distinctly modern, Dubai’s history and culture can still be seen in buildings around the city. In the Bastakiya district, traditional Emirati buildings, and the al Ahmadiya School in Deira are also worth exploring to witness a slice of old Dubai.
